Settling in to an Unsettled Life

A ridiculous amount of time has passed (or maybe so many things have happened, it just seems longer?) and it seems impossible that I can catch up with my regular style blog here. Below are a lot of pictures with sometimes detailed captions - giving you an idea of what's been going on the past couple months.  I am still living in and around San Carlos. I really like it! So much is going on all the time and I'm bopping around from beach to beach, depending on what part of town I want to be near and what social events or errands are happening.   I have my favorite spots and the more utilitarian spots.  Finding water is always an ongoing challenge.

My main focus in life right now is to work as much as possible, save money, live cheaply and enjoy every moment as much as I can.  So far, so good!

This weekend starts the celebration (or as I call it -insanity) that is Semana Santa (which mean Holy Week - Easter) The biggest holiday in Mexico.  Anyone who does not already live on the beach flocks to the nearest beach for 1-2 weeks.  Typically I get as far away from a beach as possible this time of year.  I am fortunate to have an apartment 1 mile inland that I am subletting from friends.  I will have 2 weeks to get Rita away from the beaches and the thousands of tourists about to descend upon this town.  I will also have a freezer, and a shower with water water water....I plan to take full advantage of this opportunity.  I will be so clean and eat ice cream EVERY day!  Also, I am taking this opportunity to polyurethane Rita's wood countertops- they are driving me crazy and I want to protect them and not have to oil them all the time.  It's a big project, requiring I do not stay in there for at least a week, so I am jumping on it. This week will be busy with work and then a million errands to prepare for my 2 week sequestering and projects.

Driving into Bahia Delfin, coming back late from errands in Guaymas. This is one of the main areas I stay - it's a bit farther south from town, closer to Guaymas.  It's a large beach full of dunes and many parking options. It is one of the quietest places to be on a weekend (quiet, being a relative thing here), and where my friends Marji and Rick stay (so I sometimes park near them so we can hang out.  I also watched their dogs overnight when they had to make a border run).

Enjoy the photo gallery! It roughly goes from newest to oldest events, but is a little bit scattered - kind of like my life in general these days! You can click a picture to see it larger and read the caption, or just hover over it to read the caption as well.
